Overview
This course is designed as a review of entry-level-to-practice knowledge and skills specific to cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.
It is intended for physiotherapists who would like to review basic cardiorespiratory principles and skills in assessment and treatment for patients with a variety of cardiorespiratory conditions.
Learning Objectives
This online course will:
- Review basic lung and thoracic anatomy and physiology
- Review the components of a comprehensive patient assessment within the context of patients with cardiorespiratory conditions
- Review a variety of cardiorespiratory treatment techniques complete with indications & contraindications
- Assist you in the interpretation of cardiorespiratory assessment findings and develop appropriate goals for the treatment of basic cardiorespiratory conditions
- Increase awareness of best practice guidelines and evidence-informed practice for a variety of pathologies and diseases commonly seen in a cardiorespiratory context
- Improve clinical reasoning skills in assessment and treatment
Audience
This online course is available for all healthcare professionals but is specifically designed for physiotherapists who would like to review their cardiorespiratory knowledge.
Coursework
As you work your way through the modules, you will see student handouts with the relevant slides attached. You will also have the opportunity to use your new knowledge to work through 2 case studies. For any questions while completing coursework, please reach out to cardioresp@physiotherapy.ca
The instructors
The Cardiorespiratory Division (CRD) unites physiotherapists with a special interest in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy. We provide a valuable forum for our members to share information relevant to working with clients across the lifespan and in all areas of cardiorespiratory.
To facilitate knowledge sharing and encourage networking, we produce our newsletter, the Gas Exchange, three times per year and relay information on job opportunities, online resources, courses and other educational events.
