Overview
Do you have patients who present with headaches?
Not sure how to differentiate between common headache conditions and cervicogenic headaches?
The first half of this online course will outline key considerations in the differential diagnosis of common headache conditions presented to physiotherapists using a clinical reasoning framework and complex cases.
The second half of the course will focus on how to identify key contributing factors to cervicogenic headache including an assessment of the sensory, articular, and neuro-muscular systems. You will then learn how to individualize treatment based on these factors.
Join the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association to better understand differential diagnoses of headaches, with a focus on the assessment and individualized management of cervicogenic headaches.
Objectives

Speaker Bio:
A/Prof Trudy Rebbeck PhD FACP, Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist
Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney
Trudy Rebbeck is an A/Prof and Research Fellow at The Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney, Australia (0.6FTE). In addition, she is a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist working in primary care in Australia (0.4FTE).
As a clinician, she specializes in the assessment and management of complex upper cervical spine and head conditions including headache, whiplash, neck pain, concussion, and dizziness. Trudy runs national and international advanced education courses on the above (for Physiotherapy and multi-disciplinary organizations). She has a unique ability to translate evidence to education (and therefore practice) using an approach with actual complex cases, clinical reasoning, and providing logical frameworks.
Courses receive excellent evaluations (example quote” Trudy provides excellent practical tips to guide clinical practice based on clinical reasoning, giving some structure to stratifying presentations to better guide clinicians. She is an excellent, knowledgeable, and approachable presenter”) Trudy leads a program of research in the discovery of new mechanisms underpinning headache and MSK pain conditions.
Her 5-year program of research has attracted > $10m in competitive research funding including a recent Centre of Research Excellence (Better Health Outcomes for Compensable Injury; $2.5m 2022-2026). She has 75 publications and >2300 citations. She has supervised 16 HDR students and mentored over 50 clinical specialists in physiotherapy to obtain Fellowship.
