Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Grand Rounds 13 - Low Back/Hip Pain and Return to Pickleball
This course includes
Overview:
History of Grand Rounds
“In the late 19th century, the Johns Hopkins Medical School introduced bedside teaching as a new approach to clinical education. Residents learned as faculty passed from patient to patient, explaining their methods of diagnosis and treatment.
These rounds were moved from the bedside to an auditorium and the traditional approach to grand rounds was created.
Traditional rounds were a ‘well-organized, decorous, stately, and punctual exercise.’”
(Can We Make Grand Rounds “Grand” Again? by Sandal, Iannuzzi and Knohl, 2013)
Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Grand Rounds
In a similar fashion, the Adjunct Education Committee of the National Orthopaedic Division has introduced the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Grand Rounds.
Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Grand Rounds 13 was presented online on March 28, 2023; this is the recording from that presentation.
Case
This month’s case is a 69-year-old female pickleball player complaining of right hip pain and left low back pain radiating to left buttock and posterior thigh. These pains have been intermittent for the past year, but worsening in the past 6 weeks. She has responded well to physio in the past year but not this past 6 weeks. Can we get her back on the court?
