Overview
There are many systems relevant to the hip region of the body making it difficult to diagnose the source of an individual's pain. This course is meant to provide a structured approach to evaluating a young adult with hip pain.
Learning objectives
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of hip imaging and diagnostic techniques
- Familiarization with strategies that enable the development of clinical practice that involves the management of hip conditions
- Develop an understanding of the appropriate use of non-operative interventions and strategies from allied health professionals
- Acquire an understanding of how to formulate a management plan for hip disorders and further knowledge in hip arthroscopy and other surgical procedures
Audience
This course is open to physicians (Incl. chiropractors, naturopaths, etc.), allied health professionals (Incl. physiotherapists, occupational therapists, etc.), and trainees (Incl. fellows, residents, medical students, etc.).

The instructors
MD PhD FRCSC Dip Sport Med.
Dr. Ayeni is a Professor and the Division Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at McMaster University. He is currently the medical director for the Hamilton Tiger Cats (Canadian Football League) and Forge FC (Canadian Premier League) and previously served as the assistant team physician for the New Jersey Nets (National Basketball Association).
Dr. Ayeni has published over 300 academic publications in sports medicine as well as several textbooks focused on sports medicine/research. He is considered a leading authority on hip injuries and conditions in the young adult as this is a substantial portion of his clinical practice. He has spoken widely across the globe on evidence based approaches to evaluate and treat hip related syndromes and conditions.
