Session Outline:
This webinar will explore the methods currently used for lung volume recruitment with in Canada and discuss the, research backing and the pros and cons of each
We will also discuss ventilator hyperinflation, a practice used extensively to treat patients in other physiotherapy communities in the world and discuss if it is something we should be considering adding into our practice.
Upon completion of this workshop participants will be able to:
- Identify the treatment methods that are available for improving lung volume recruitment
- Summarize the advantages and risks associated with each treatment method
- Use their assessment and clinical reasoning skills to decide which treatment method is appropriate for their patient
Speaker: Rosalyn Jones
Rosalyn Jones graduated from the physiotherapy program at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand in 2000. She has combined her love of travel and her passion for improving the health and function of critically ill patients by working predominantly in CardioRespiratory Physiotherapy settings in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Canada.
Rosalyn is currently the Physiotherapy Clinical Resource Therapist for Cardiorespiratory and Chronic diseases at Vancouver Coastal Health in British Columbia. She also lectures in the critical care modules for School of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia.
