Description:

In this Grand Rounds we will discuss differential diagnoses and treatment approaches for shoulder pain and stiffness post breast cancer treatment.

The Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Grand Rounds is presented by the Adjunct Education Committee of the National Orthopaedic Division

 

Speakers: 

Erin Majcher BSc., BMRPT, FCAMPT

Erin Majcher graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of General Science in 2004, a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in Physical Therapy in 2007 and became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists in 2018.  

Erin works at D’Arcy Bain Physiotherapy in Winnipeg, Manitoba and has been in private practice since 2009, having started her career in the hospital setting.  Erin is certified in acupuncture and integrated dry needling.  She serves as Chair for the MB Section of the Orthopaedic Division and recently had the opportunity to assist on a Level 2 upper quadrant course in the AIM program.  She has a particular interest in soccer related injuries.  In her spare time, she enjoys time at the cabin, running recreationally and spending time with her 8-year-old twins.

 

Mary-Ann Dalzell MScPT

Mary-Ann Dalzell is the past Chair of the Oncology Division of the CPA and present chair of the National Education Committee for the Oncology Division. She was Clinical Director and Research Coordinator for the Rehabilitation and Exercise Oncology Program at Hope & Cope, Segal Cancer Center in Montreal and co-founder and associate director of the McGill Cancer Nutrition-Rehabilitation Program. She has lectured in Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine, Biophysical Modalities and Cancer Rehabilitation and continues to teach basic and advanced courses in rehabilitation oncology and online courses with BIA Formation and Key Clinical Skills.

Mary-Ann has studied and published on the residual functional effects of radiotherapy in young breast cancer survivors as well as implementing clinical practice guidelines in rehabilitation and exercise programs for cancer patients.  She has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, the Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada and Chair of the Sport Physiotherapy Division of the CPA.

Greg Redman BScPT, FCAMPT, Dip. Manip., Sport Physio Diploma, GunnIMS, CAFCI, HPC, Clinical Specialist Sport

Greg Redman is a graduate of both Queens University and Simon Fraser University. He is a Clinical Physiotherapy Specialist with over 20 years of experience primarily focusing on manual therapy and sport physiotherapy. He is currently the Lead Therapist for Canadian players on the PGA and LPGA tours and has been a physiotherapist with the Canadian Olympic team at the Athens, Torino, Beijing, London, Sochi and Rio Olympic Games. He is also the Head Physiotherapist for Golf Canada and Canoe Kayak Canada. Greg has a special interest in developing interesting and innovative exercise programs in sport rehab and core stabilization.

Greg also specializes in providing sport specific physical ability assessments aimed at optimizing sport performance and injury prevention. He frequently consults with International Sport Medicine Centres and educates various groups including the PGA and the Titleist Performance Institute on golf physical performance.

 

Darryl Viegas BSc(PT), Dip. Manip., CGIMS, FCAMPT

Darryl graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours degree in Physiology in 1999. He then continued his studies at the University of Toronto and graduated with a BSc(PT).  In 2005 Darryl completed both his Intermediate Certificate and Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy.  

Darryl has continued his post graduate training with courses in exercise theory, medical acupuncture/dry needling, advanced spinal manipulation, advanced shoulder rehabilitation techniques, myofascial release and nerve mobilization techniques to name a few.  Darryl is a senior instructor for the post graduate courses offered through the Orthopaedic Division of the CPA and chair of the Ontario Section of the Orthopaedic Division.  In his practice Darryl attempts to blend the use of manual therapy techniques with patient specific exercise programs and education in the treatment of patients with all orthopaedic conditions.
