Speakers:
Joe Putos
Joe is a physical therapist registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. A member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, he is the Chair of the CPA's Leadership Division and the Past Chair of the Physiotherapy Specialty Certification Board of Canada and the Past Chair of the Divisions Chair Committee.
He is completing my PhD in Physical Therapy in the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University in London, Ontario. Joe’s research is focused on the mechanisms of acute low back pain using MRI images in human subjects.
Joe has worked as a Peer Reviewer and Practice Enhancement Coach for the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. He has a Master of Education degree from Queen's (2009) which focused on Program Evaluation and undergraduate degrees in Physical Therapy (Queen's - '85), Physical Education (University of Ottawa - 78) and Education (Queen's - '79). He is an alumni of the Assessment and Evaluation Group at Queen's University https://queens-aeg.ca/alumni/.
Over the past 34 years, Joe has held a number of professional, business and community leadership positions. He continues to be actively involved in research to improve the body of knowledge within the physical therapy field.
Laura Desveaux
Dr. Desveaux is the Scientific Director of the Institute for Better Health at Trillium Health Partners and the Lead for the Learning Health System Portfolio. She is also the founder and Executive Director of Women Who Lead, an organization dedicated to supporting the career advancement and leadership development of women in the health sector.
Her career focuses on closing the gap between current performance and what science and experience tell us is possible. She realizes this passion through her noted roles and as a career coach, where she helps scientists, clinicians, and professionals identify and unlock their potential.
Kris Head, B.ScPT, M.SC, MBA
Kris graduated from U of T PT in 2001 following studies at the University of Calgary in Physical Education and a Master's in Muscle Physiology. He moved back to Calgary and began his career as an orthopaedic physiotherapist with a Lifemark clinic.
In 2004, Kris took on the clinic director role for the practice where we was working. In 2009, he expanded his management role within Lifemark to overseeing a group of six practices in the Calgary area in addition to his home clinic. He eventually took on the leadership for Lifemark's Prairie region as VP of operations in 2018. In 2021, Kris left the Physiotherapy world to take on a role leading operations for one of the national veterinary organizations which is where he is currently based. Along the way, Kris was a member of the CPA Leadership division, completed an MBA and worked in public practice managing interdisciplinary services.
