Overview
The purpose of this webinar is to review the impacts of wildfires on health outcomes, the impact on the healthcare system, and the changes that physiotherapists can make to their practice to potentially reduce the effects of wildfire smoke and other disruptions related to wildfires.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the negative health effects of wildfires and wildfire smoke exposure
- Create alternative assessment and treatment strategies to address these negative health effects
- Identify policies in their own practice setting that could be adapted to reduce these negative health effects
Speaker's Bio:
Dr. Pat Camp is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia and is involved with the St. Paul’s Hospital Pulmonary Rehabilitation Clinic, which she founded in 1997. Dr. Camp’s research is focused on three main themes: 1) Indigenous lung health; 2) respiratory-related health services delivery (diagnosis and treatment), and 3) pulmonary rehabilitation. She has expertise in community-based research methods, implementation science, and mixed methods, and leads several projects related to health equity and lung health.
